In Sydney, on 15th July 2007, we could not see the moon for the month of RAJAB 1428, but lately we have recieved the news that in Perth the moon has been sighted . Therefore, the moon-sighting committee of Australia and Majlis ul Ulamaa of Australia have declared that the month of RAJAB will start from Monday, 16th July 2007.

The western horizon was cloudy.

Hussain Khushaish (MCW member) from Kuwait, reported: Seen

In Kuwait on 15 July 2007 we were 5 persons trying to see the crescent. I could see the crescent in the following order sun disc disapeared at 18:47, sunset at 18:50; crescent first seen with 20*60 binocular at 18:50 (at sunset exactly), first seen with naked eyes at 19:19 (after 29 minutes of sunset); last seen with naked eyes at 19:30 (before moon set of 19 minutes); last seen with binocular at 19:35 (before moon set of 14 minutes); moonset at 17:49 .The western horizon was hazy last 3 degrees. Three of us could see the crescent with naked eyes; the other 2 persons could only see the crescent with binocular. Venus was seen easily.

Goolam Tegally (MCW member) from Port Louis, Mauritius, reported: Seen

Hilal was sighted this evening here in Mauritius at 14:05 U.T. Sky was clear. Hence 1st. Rajab will be Monday 16 July.

Neria Haroeh (MCW member) from near Ramla, Israel, reported: Seen

On sunday the 15/7/2007 from Matsliach, near Ramlah, Israel. The location is about 31° 55'N & 34° 52'E. Sunset was at 19:48 local time. I first saw the New Moon at 20:07 local time, with 10x50 binocular. At that time I was not able to see it with naked eye. On 20:11 it was a small light at the same place of the moon which I saw by the binocular. There was a cloudiness and haziness near the horizon at the place of the new moon. On 20:16 I was not able anymore to see the small light of the moon by naked eye. I follow the moon with my binocular until 20:27, when the moon was covered by a big cloud and I was not able to see it anymore. According to the calculations the moonset was at 20:47.

Muhammad Afifi al-Akiti (MCW member) from Oxford, UK, reported: Not Seen

Negative sighting in Oxford. The two of us attempted moonsighting at our usual site at the end of the 29th day of Jumada II (Sunday, 15 July 2007). The horizon was overcast and the crescent could not be sighted. However, We received reports of positive sightings from the East. Knowledge of these positive sightings in the East, despite not being able to sight locally in the UK, is sufficient for us to establish the month Rajab for the UK to be tomorrow, Monday, the 16th of July. This is by following the default rule [dabit] in Islamic Law in this matter that whenever it is known that the crescent has been positively sighted in the East, local sighting inevitably follows, but not the other way round [mata hasalati r-ru'yatu fi l-sharqi lazima ru'yatuhu fi l-gharbi wa la-'aks].

Dr Abdurrazak Ebrahim (MCW member) from Cape Town, S. Africa, reported: Seen

The Hilaal for Rajab was clearly seen by naked-eye from my sighting location at the Green Point Lighthouse in Cape Town, this Sunday evening 15 July 2007, and the end of the 29th Jamadith Thani 1428 AH.

First naked-eye sighting was at 18h09 local time. Sunset was at 17h58.

The official first day of Rajab in Southern Africa will correspond to Monday, 16 July 2007.

Rashid Motala (MCW member) from Durban, South Africa, reported: Seen

The Hilaal for Rajab was sighted this evening in SA in many locations. An easy sighting.

Muhammed Yasin Qamardeen (MCW member) from Iyana Ipaja, Lagos State, Nigeria, reported: Not Seen

The Hilal of Rajab was not visible tonight perharp due heavy cloudy at western sky here in Lagos, at the sgore of Atlantic,.Besides, report from Bauchi city,Bauchi State and Ilorin, Kwara state indicated heaavy cloud and at Maiduguri it is rainy at Magrib Time

؟ huh.gif

biggrin.gif ارايتم ؟!
